Local government research and policy
This multi-year project seeks to respond to the crisis of local government. The project has two focal points: the first is research on local government, and the second is policy support. The project will develop various research outputs to identify areas for institutional and systemic transformation and to create a holistic picture of what goes right and what goes wrong in local politics and in local bureaucracies. Further, the project will focus on supporting the new Local Government White Paper and the President's intervention in the City of Johannesburg.
