Vacancy - Researcher: Sustainability and Just Transitions (Wits University level AC08)

GCRO is seeking to appoint a flexible, multi-skilled Researcher to build our work in Sustainability.

We are looking for:

  • Applicants with a Masters or PhD or registration for PhD in environmental science or geography.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate with experience in urban environmental issues and a track record in areas of climate change, water or green infrastructure.
  • A publication record of at least two academic articles and/or book chapters.
  • High level statistical analysis skills and the ability to work with software such as SPSS, R and related GIS software would be an advantage, as would evidence of project management.
  • An applicant who has experience working with government agencies at different levels and who can, lead on urban environmental issues as a cross-disciplinary field of applied and academic research.

A competitive remuneration package at the level of a Lecturer is available. The successful candidate will be given a five-year contract, renewable.
