New GCRO Staff
Anna Sango joined the Gauteng City-Region Observatory (GCRO) in February 2025 as a Junior Researcher. She holds an MSc in Development Planning from the University of the Witwatersrand, where she graduated in 2019. Her research focused on the impact of transnational mobility on the livelihood practices of Somali women in Mayfair, Johannesburg. Before obtaining her MSc, Anna completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Planning at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017, and she earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies from the University of Cape Town in 2016. Before joining the GCRO, she worked in program support and research at Infrastructure South Africa, where she assisted the infrastructure financing, external relations, and communications teams. Additionally, Anna has extensive experience as a tutor and writing fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand. Her research interests include migration, feminist urbanism, care economies, and artist research methodologies.

Chanry Collins joined the Gauteng City-Region Observatory (GCRO) as an Administrative Assistant in February 2025. She holds a degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of North West, Potchefstroom. With a diverse professional background, Chanry has gained extensive experience in various roles, including Project Management, Real Estate, Marketing, Higher Degree Administration, and Social Media Content Creation. Her multifaceted skill set has equipped her to handle a wide range of responsibilities effectively. Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Chanry is passionate about sports and photography. She has completed her Level 1 certificate at the ASA Technical Course for Athletics and Netball, showcasing her dedication to personal growth and development in her interests.
