This launch was hosted online, which allowed for the participation of over 50 diverse stakeholders, including key representatives from GCRO, GDED, and various relevant entities and agencies involved in economic development across the region.
Throughout the year 2024, extensive research was carried out on six critical sectors: Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and digital services, agro-processing, tourism, creative industries, freight and logistics, and the automotive sector. These studies aimed to assess the current landscape, identify challenges, and explore opportunities within each sector to inform policy and program development.
During the launch, experts presented key insights and findings from the sector studies, sparking in-depth discussions among participants. Attendees emphasized the relevance and practical implications of the research for their ongoing initiatives and strategic planning for the future. The dialogue was characterized by active engagement, with participants reflecting critically on the research presented and articulating the need for additional studies to delve deeper into specific areas and challenges identified.
Overall, the launch of the sector studies proved to be a significant success, fostering collaboration and networking among stakeholders and setting the stage for future research and development initiatives that could enhance the inclusive economy within Gauteng.
