From 16-18 January 2019, GCRO co-hosted a writing workshop on the theme 'Governing for Urban Inclusion'. The workshop was funded by the British Academy and was organised by Charlotte Lemanski (Geography University of Cambridge) and Richard Ballard (GCRO). It was co-facilitated by Jenny Robinson (University College of London) and Amini Kamete (Glasgow).

There were 30 participants in total, who all submitted draft papers in advance of the workshop. Participants gave feedback to one another in small groups and had time to workshop and rewrite some sections of their papers. The workshop also held discussions on the political economy of publishing; dealing with reviewers' comments; grants and funding, the writing process and managing material for writing. The participants also took a half day tour to Cosmo City.
