GCRO welcomes a new GIS intern

Ms Cher Petersen joined the GCRO on 1 April 2022 as the new GIS Intern for the 2022/23 financial year. Ms Petersen completed her BSc Honours studies in 2021 in the field of Geography at the University of the Witwatersrand. Her Honours project focused on the use of multi-temporal satellite images to map surface water variability and determine the effects of rainfall in Gauteng, South Africa over time. She was chosen from a long list of 108 applicants, with shortlisting interviews taking place at the GCRO offices in Braamfontein and in online format on 10 March 2022. Ms Petersen will contribute to a multitude of GCRO related GIS outputs such as Map of the Month and will assist with upcoming GIS and Remote Sensing projects. We, at the GCRO, are happy to welcome her to the team.
